Equestrian Australia has put two names forward for the inaugural FEI Eventing World Championship for U25 riders, to be held July 22-26 at Millstreet in Ireland. This competition was announced last year and will be an annual event, changing locations each year. The U25 Worlds are run as a CCI4*-S competition and serve as a stepping stone between Young Riders and Senior team opportunities; riders who compete in the U25 Worlds are not eligible for a Senior World Championship team in the same year.
The two riders named by Australia are Brooke Dougall, who has competed in both eventing and show jumping throughout her FEI career and who is in her final year of U25 eligibility. Brooke bases in Germany with her top horse, My Locky, a 19-year-old Hanoverian gelding. The pair has three CCI4*-S completions under their belt, including most recently at Kronenberg in the Netherlands earlier this season. Brooke competes alongside her mother, and she also works as a show groom for Japanese show jumper Taizo Sugitani.
Also selected for U25 Worlds is Lamoza Velish, a 19-year-old rising star who’s won both of her first two CCI4*-S starts with her 15-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding Call Me Cooley. This win streak includes the 4*-S at the Melbourne International Three-Day Event earlier this month, and in fact this pair have won eight times in FEI competition since their partnership began in 2023.
Nominated entries for the Eventing World Championships for U25 are due on June 24, so we anticipate many more entries coming forward in the coming days. Definite entries will then be due on July 8.
